  • Is great if you don't use AI voices

Voice Dream is great. I use it all the time, the only thing I would recomend is to not use the AI voices. They don't sound right, and they do mess with your voices. I was using Voice dream reader with an older phone and had used the AI enhanced voices, and it was causing all kinds of problems, but with the new iPhone 16, there aren't as many. Stay away from AI voices on this app. Other than that, it works great. It plays many files and even zipped audio files which I like.

Changing rating due to several issues. This app has been invaluable to me, but I'm so saddened at the various bugs and lack of developer responses. I can no longer resume playback using airpods on several voices, including Reed and Samantha. This works in other apps that use these voices. Syncing between devices seems to be getting more and more unreliable. Now on my secondary device iCloud sync will not work. Books in progress are unavailable. I truly hope the developers can fix the airpods issue and the syncing issue. My productivity has gone downhill since these issues began occurring. There is just no other app that does everything Voice Dream does. My below comments still hold true. This is a fantastic app for accessing content from a variety of sources. Now with iCloud sync, it's a dream come true. I love being able to switch between devices. I'm delighted to be able to use multiple literacy modalities to access text --speech or braille for me. I do wish the" Voiceover rotor worked more reliably when in the text box to check the spelling of a given word, ICloud sync has truly added so much to this app for me. I love that I can finally sync Bookshare books easily between devices, and pick up where I left off. This app has certainly been a game-changer for me. Original review: Wonderful reading app. It's my choice for accesssing DAISY files, Bookshare content, as well as content stored in my Dropbox. Thank you for the improved Braille support. Now, I can switch quite easily between reading braille and listening to text. The fact that the last line of text is no longer repeated when accessing content through braille makes this app even better than previous verssions. What would make this truly a dream app for me is if I could have content sync between devices, so I could start reading a book from Bookshare on my phone and pick up later on my iPad. Thanks for always improving this app.
  • Can’t add web articles from Safari with Latest Update!

This is a fantastic app, but as of the latest update I can no longer add articles from the web to my listening list. This effectively makes the app useless for adding any new content.

I can believe they decide to make more money and simply cancel everyone lifetime purchase and make it unusable for all to functions we have and now want to get us to pay for a membership!

In particular, I use this app to ‘proof-listen’ to my writing. In listening, I discover opportunities to make improvements which silent reading alone never seems to provide.
  • Bummed I payed for this app

Payed for this app when it was a one time fee, hoping I would continue to get updates as the app grew. Now most of the app is paywalled and the voices I payed for are obsolete compared to current standards. I would look elsewhere for a tts app.

Wouldn’t even let me use the app without a subscription. Poor quality.
