Description

Learning a language can be an experience that transforms your life. Over 25 years of language learning experience has taught Rosetta Stone one thing: everyone has the ability to learn to read, write, and speak a language with confidence. Try the Rosetta Stone app yourself for free. Many online language learning apps will promise that you can learn a language in just a few minutes a day. However, there is a significant difference between memorizing vocabulary lists and speaking a language with confidence. Learning a language is about more than just the words. One of the mistakes new language learners make is treating language as an object or an end goal instead of as an experience. Ditch the books, translator, and dictionary, and surround yourself with a language whenever, wherever with the Rosetta Stone mobile app. What are people saying about Rosetta Stone: • CNN Underscored - "There’s a good reason why the language learning app Rosetta Stone is the gros chien (that is, the big dog) of the apps we tested" • Mashable - "one of the OG language-learning services, known for its deep dive into accent pronunciation" • Popular Science - "super-smooth and intuitive, and the lessons neither feel too short so as to be forgettable nor too long so as to be a chore" • PC Mag - "reliable, accurate, and thorough" Rosetta Stone has taught millions of people new languages, and you’re next. From day one, you’ll: • Stay focused with a personalized language learning plan based on your motivation. • Learn a language intuitively using our proven immersion method. • Perfect your pronunciation with instantaneous feedback. • Download lessons to do everything offline. • Access different kinds of exercises with our Extended Learning features. • Sync progress across all your devices. • And never see an ad, ever. • Hate this app

I keep thinking it will get better. It doesn’t. I’ve been using this app for over a year. Speech recognition never works. The transcribe button (so that you actually know what you’re speaking) only works about half the time or is never even an option. No flash cards. The pictures are so small (on your phone) you have no idea what your looking at so how could you possibly choose the correct answer. Arg there have to be better apps for learning languages!!!! Only positive: they offer many languages to fail to learn.
  • Terrible teaching app for teaching children with new update (version 8.36.0)

Used to use this for teaching my child a language. You do the course and a score will appear at the end telling how you did. Unfortunately, with the recent updates… an eye at the bottom left hand corner allows the student to see all answers during the course. Your student will now always get 100% and there is no way to turn off this option (I asked them about it and the official response: “We do not currently offer the ability to disable the show answer icon within activities. I do apologize for any inconvenience.”) I am disappointed I bought this app and will need to look for another one for teaching children. If teaching is your thing… this isn’t the app you are looking for.
  • Dated, confusing, and frustrating

I purchased Rosetta Stone as an intermediate Spanish speaker. Unlike other language learning apps, you can’t “test out” of certain material. You can jump ahead, but without any knowledge of what you’re missing in the other lessons. The pictures they use are usually extremely vague, and a lot of your time is spent guessing at how they want you to interpret the picture. Another frustrating feature is their library of reading material: you can read it back to see how your pronunciation is. However, this feature does NOT work and you get zero feedback. I personally do not like this program because, unlike other language learning apps that I’ve used, there’s no accountability. It’s self-paced, but there’s no direction, no feedback, and lacks depth. If you’re somebody that likes to know the “why” of the language, do not purchase this. It is a very superficial way to learn Spanish, at least. I was shocked because I know it has a great reputation, but I was not impressed and disappointed in its lack of intuitiveness. If you’re not a beginner, I think it’s a very frustrating program.
  • PLEASE FIX THE STUPID VOICE READER

Ok so I honestly really like the app and it’s helping me improve my polish but I HATE the speaking part because I could say something completely correct and it always registers as wrong and it’s not like I’m a beginner at the language like I’ve been speaking polish since I could speak but this feature is making it hard for me to practice and improve if it doesn’t get fixed please fix this it’s really annoying me

So at first, i started with Duolingo since I had seen so many videos about it, but when I tried rosseta stone, I had the best learning experience, and I’m getting my money’s worth. TY!
  • Plan feature removed

I’ve had a lifetime membership since 2021 and used the my plan feature to keep track and motivate me by seeing my progress. Recent update removed that feature! False advertising because the App Store still advertises the my plan feature on the mobile platform. Each one of the Infograph side is in a vertical orientation with iPhone front facing cam and ear speaker screen cut outs!
  • Turning off the reading part doesn’t actually work.

I paid for the one year subscription thinking that my son would be able to use this, he’s 5 and doesn’t know how to read English, much less some new language. There is a fancy setting that you are supposed to be able to turn off the reading parts off the lessons, If only it’d work. It keeps bringing up things that are impossible to get right and move on in the lessons without being able to read. And I looked around and couldn’t find any email address to get help and support. Only FAQ.
  • Increase the speed of voice recognition!

I’ve been using Rosetta Stone to learn Polish, and I love the overall experience. The lessons are well-structured, and the interface is user-friendly. However, one drawback on the iPhone app is the speech recognition speed. After hearing the ‘ding’ prompt to speak, there’s a 1-2 second delay before it starts recognizing what I say. This pause makes it hard to respond consistently and affects the flow of practice. In comparison, other dictation apps or modes on iPhone start almost instantly once cued. Despite this, Rosetta Stone remains a fantastic tool for language learning!

Among all language learning apps, Rosetta Stone takes a unique approach — one which I find to be very useful and valuable. It provides visual associations with words and sentences, and it teaches grammar through practice rather than through dry paragraphs of text. I’m not sure I would use this app as my sole source for learning, but it is an excellent supplement to other resources, and it is definitely moving me forward in my language learning journey. I can say without hesitation that Rosetta Stone earns a place in the top tier of all language learning apps. And it’s vastly superior to Duolingo — on multiple counts. My main criticism is in regard to the listening and speaking exercises of this app. As the user moves deeper in the curriculum, Rosetta Stone will sometimes decline to provide text or audio for an image, requiring the user then to infer what should be said based on the context. And this is not a guessing game. Other times, Rosetta Stone will provide audio but no text, and the user must then remember what was said in order to repeat it, and where the spoken sentence is very long, the user may not remember all the words. And this is not a memory game either. For example, in one Spanish exercise, Rosetta Stone flashed this on screen for a moment: “Estoy buscando una foto de una cascada para mi esposa. ¿Tiene idea de dónde puedo buscar?” Then no sooner than this text had appeared, it was gone, and the user was supposed to have repeated it word for word (from memory). I understand the need to memorize vocabulary. But I already know the vocabulary of this quoted text. I know also its verb conjugations and other grammar. But I couldn’t memorize the two sentences on the spot. People who want to play memory games will not go to the education section of the App Store. How well the user infers what should be said, or how well the user remembers what was spoken, in no way measures (or improves) listening and speaking skills. All the same, aside from my criticism above, Rosetta Stone is definitely worth the subscription fee, and I strongly recommend it. I use it daily.
