Description

RadarScope is a specialized display utility for weather enthusiasts and meteorologists that allows you view NEXRAD Level 3 and super-resolution radar data along with tornado, severe thunderstorm, flash flood, special marine and snow squall warnings, and predicted storm tracks issued by the U.S. National Weather Service. It can display the latest reflectivity, velocity, dual-polarization, and other products from any NEXRAD or TDWR radar site in the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, Korea, and Okinawa, as well as data from Environment Canada, Australian Bureau of Meteorology, Finnish Meteorological Institute, and German Weather Service radars. These aren't smoothed PNG or GIF images, this is native radar data rendered in its original radial format for a high level of detail. Whether you are scanning reflectivity for a mesocyclone's tell-tale hook echo, trying to pinpoint the landfall of a hurricane's eye wall, or looking for small features like velocity couplets in the storm relative radial velocity product, RadarScope gives you the power to view true radial weather radar data. RadarScope displays tornado, severe thunderstorm, flash flood, special marine, and snow squall warnings issued by the U.S. National Weather Service. You can browse the list of active warnings in the information sidebar, select a warning to view the details, and even zoom to the selected warning on the map. Zoom in and out on the map using the mouse or pinch gestures on multi-touch trackpads. Click and drag to scroll around the map. Select one of the 307 different radars in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Korea, Puerto Rico, Guam, or Okinawa. Tap the play button to download and animate over recent images. Display the names of over 25,000 cities and towns on the map as you zoom and scroll. Move the cursor over the color legend to see the data value associated with each color. You can also export the currently displayed map to several common image formats. Meanwhile, RadarScope will retrieve and display updated data automatically and intelligently (approximately every 2 to 10 minutes, depending on the radar scan strategy). You can display radar data from our servers, NOAA's public access web site, or your Allison House subscriber account. RadarScope Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription with two different tiers to choose from. RadarScope Pro Tier One is an annual subscription that provides access to real-time lightning data in the U.S. and Canada that animates along with the radar loop and up to 30 frames of radar data, including extended loops of super-resolution data. Tier One subscribers can also access optional dual-pane and quad-pane modes for viewing multiple radar products side-by-side. RadarScope Pro Tier Two is an annual or monthly subscription that combines all the features in Tier One with more advanced features, including SPC outlooks, mesoscale discussions, local storm reports, hail size and probability contours, and azimuthal shear contours in the U.S., a 30-day archive of all radar products, and the ability to use subscription features across multiple platforms. If you choose to buy the RadarScope Pro subscription, it will charged to your iTunes account. The subscription will be auto-renewed within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price you originally paid. Subscriptions may be managed and auto-renewal disabled via your iTunes Account Settings after the purchase. Once purchased, the subscription cannot be cancelled during the active subscription period. • Does not work with Mac OS 10.13 as stated.

Does not work with Mac OS 10.13 as stated, 2/3 times in the system/OS requirements. Been using this app both on mac and IOS for about 6-8 years, 5-star quality. Yes, I’ve followed the FAQ troubleshooting on the developers site regarding no feeds/data. Yes, I’ve contacted their “Zendesk” about whether it requires 10.13 or actually 10.14? I also asked how to “downgrade” back to 7.4.2 which appears impossible searching around. That was 3 days ago, no resonse - hence one star in terms of support.
  • Re-named app, no more updates

As another reviewer has mentioned. This app was renamed from "RadarScope" to "RadarScope 4". I've already paid the initial $9.99, but to get past version 4.7.2 I need to re-purchase "Radarscope" on the app store for the basic app. Seems to me they are not respecting the one-time purchase price for the basic app. It seems they've sunseted a version of RadarScope for Mac and left users to re-purchase their new app.
  • Bait and Switch

Developer renamed this app to 'RadarScope 4' from the originally named 'RadarScope', then released a new app with the same name as before. But yeah now you have to re-buy the app with no consideration of prior purchases of the same app as before. I have reported the developer to Apple for review of a store policy violation!
  • Great weather radar app!

RadarScope is the perfect weather radar app. You can view many parameters in detail for one radar site. It is a great app for weather professionals. If you want to see the entire country's weather radar sites at one time, get a different app. That is not RadarScope's specialty. No other weather app I've seen will show as much detail as RadarScope.
  • Pro Features Purchased on iPad Do Not Restore on Mac!

I primarily use RadarScope on iOS (iPad and iPhone). I have used it for years, and use it to navigate around storms, predict arrival and duration of storms. Before, the annual pro subscription tier 2 for iOS worked on the Mac too. This no longer works, as others have reported. Canceled my pro subscription. This was a great app, but I understand it appears DTN, no longer has the staff to support the app. Oh well....
  • Doesn't work

It used to, which is why I gave it the extra star. I am a Pro Tier Two subscriber but whenever I try to "restore" the purchase on my imac I get an error saying the application is damaged, delete it and restore from the apple store. - rinse repeat etc.
  • No sub across devices

Apparently you do not share a sub for pro between iOS and MacOS. Too bad.
  • Awesome app but pricing is wack

This is a world class radar app with one big caveat. The good: if you are familiar with the iOS app, expect similar (at a much higher price), with the ability to scale to your resolution of choice. The bad: reoccurring subscriptions purchased on iOS do not transfer over to the Mac App, and initial buy in is @ 3x.
  • Excellent Program

I've been using the iOS version of this software since the very beginning. I also use an app that shows a national radar map and temperatures and such, but when I want to examine what's happening at a local level, there is nothing that beats this program, in my opinion. I admit that a lot of the information presented is kind of technical, but as an weather fan it has been worth reading their help and learning about these things. I recently updated from the Pro1 tier ($10/yr) to the Pro2 tier ($100/yr) and have found it well worth it for all the new data and graphics to learn about.
  • Bad Subscription Policies

Pay for a subscription for the iOS versiona and it not carry over to this app on the mac. really a horrible business model.
