1955 at age 16 ,I was lucky to deliver the CHRONICLE in Parkmerced. At that time I loved to read Herb Cain and the GREEN SHEET which got to attached to the 49ers and Seals . Unfortunately my parents moved to Millbrae and in the years following I moved to L.A.👎Now I still have a home in Saint Francis Woods and subscribe to the internet version of Chronicle and enjoy it every morning
  • Love the content, hate the app

Happy to pay for the content, but the app is SLOW. Jolts and freezes regularly even on wifi, reloads the page at arbitrary times while you're reading (and if that happens while you're offline after loading the page, you lose the ability to read it at all). I'm guessing it's the app loading ads, trackers, etc, which is annoying since I actually pay quite a bit for a subscription.

The Chronicle is so bad I’m going to drop my subscription after reading the Chronicle for over 65 years.

No dark mode? Ads that render late and shift the text around while I’m trying to read? Not a good experience compared to NYT. Better than a lot of legacy media, but the Chronicle needs to try harder than this to provide an enjoyable reading experience if they expect people to pay up.
  • Click-bait doesn’t serve you well

Your web designers need to stop the constant click-bait experience. Look at the original newspaper and see what works.
  • What’s the point of paying for clickbait headlines?

This paper is so frustrating to read, they go out of their way to give no useful info in the headlines. Even with a paid subscription I can’t tell what an article is actually about without clicking through to read multiple paragraphs. It’s so disrespectful of my time, the *point* of a headline is to help me figure out what is relevant to me! I’m one more “This beloved restaurant is about to close!” headline away from cancelling my sub.
