  • Just not a good app

Workout uploads never work (yes I keep the app open in the foreground) they’ve recently update the UI but the UX is still trash. Just because it’s the original doesn’t mean you should keep using it. Glad to have canceled my premium subscription

I downloaded the program in order to utilize the associated Phil Mosley training programs. It worked well with fairly seamlessly uploading to my Garmin. And then the trial period ended. The app locked down and all useful, even basic functionality is now behind the paywall. I get significantly more value from Garmin Connect and Strava for free and happily pay for the advance versions when training.

I use Garmin to capture data, but I always wish that TP had a little more insight. Today’s update is amazing and I can’t wait to see more!
  • Unusable due to mandatory bulk spam

Even if you’re signed up as an annual subscriber, if you enable notifications, TP spams you with ads to purchase future years of the service into 2028 and you can’t stop or disable these ads without administratively disabling notifications in iOS. I’m writing this review as a fully paid annual subscriber having gotten spammed 7 times in five days. Turning off notifications means you don’t get notifications when your coach messages you, one of the primary purposes of the platform. I just gave my coach my email and we agreed to mostly ignore TP except for data. Filed a support request and got no relief from spam. If you decide to sign up know what you’re getting into.

I’m pretty sure you do need a trainer to sue this app(maybe I’m wrong) but besides that it’s an amazing app and it tracks much more metrics then most other apps
  • the feedback given is great

I joined a cycling coaching club…part of joining that club was getting a free TrainingPeaks premium account. Also part of the club was to do a MAP test which was part of the training peaks subscription, but I was charged $106 for the one test which should have been free. Neither the cycling club or training peaks has rectified this situation.
  • I love training peaks, but the apps…

Training peaks is awesome. It’s a super valuable tool. But there are a couple things about the apps that are strange and annoying. When leaving a comment on a workout, the interface is different across web, iOS app and iPad app. It should just be a text area. Not an input field. I want to be able to go down a line, nothing crazy. Also the slider to indicate the intensity of a workout always tries to drag the screen to take me back when on the iOS or iPad app. Feel like a slider should be a simple component but this one doesnt work very well for some reason. Also you can edit comments on the web but you cant on either of the apps. It’s just oddly inconsistent in some little ways. All-in-all, it’s pretty good. I know these things are knit picky. Thanks TP.

I love the app and have used it for nearly 2 decades. It is great to have all of my data in one place. I really wish we had more setting options (like having it in dark mode).
  • Game changer

The TrainingPeaks app has been an absolute game changer for me. When I trained for my first Olympic triathlon, I relied on my own instincts (and a bit of help from ChatGPT) — and while that got me through, I now realize how much structure matters. This time around, I’m following a Phil Mosley plan for my Half Ironman, and the difference is night and day. The long, gradual build makes every week feel purposeful. I’m not burning out — I’m building up — and it honestly feels like I’m ready to take on the world. I still find some of the setup — like heart-rate and power zones — a bit confusing at times, but that’s where AI and a little guidance come in handy. The combination of TrainingPeaks’ data and AI support has made this the most confident and consistent I’ve ever felt in training.
