  • From Surf Community to Cash Grab

Surfline used to be the go-to for quick, reliable surf forecasts. Now they’ve swallowed up the competition, slapped paywalls on everything, and left free users with scraps. It feels less like a surf community and more like a cash grab. Not worth the subscription.

It’s usually a flat lake in Virginia Beach during the summer but now that we’re moving into August more north east winds are coming. it never really gets over 3 feet here unless there’s a tropical storm or hurricane off the coast.
  • Surfline has died

There once was a amazing app called Surfline, some said ahead of its time, but then they got hungry, searching for money, now it’s useless without prime. There’s no reason to make the app more useless for people without premium. All you can do is see a 50/50 report which is annoying or watch a camera from yesterday. I get you need to make money but geez. I miss the days I could wake up and pull up the camera to see what board I was gonna take, not cipher through the wind and tides and swell to see if the report will be accurate on to show up and it say 3-4 but be flat

Loads easy and gives great updates on swells and cameras on locations. This is a tool I use daily to get inspired to surf or save gas and stay at work. Could have more realistic wave heights... Amazing to see so many good surf spots live. Great times. Thank you, Kenny th Falconer

So tired of price gouging, was a premium member for the past 10+ years and cancelled after yet another price hike. I remember when Surfline offered free access to live cams and a 3 day forecast for free, now the free version seems like it’s intended to be as useless as possible to get you to shell out 150 a year. Save your money and use a free app like windy

If I’m thinking of paddling out I always check Surfline to see what the conditions are like and where to go.
