  • Buyer beware on subscriptions.

I’ve a monthly subscription to Pro-Account and they continuously charged my card without renewing the service unless I remind them via email they’ve billed me for the service. Then they make you jump through hoops with email receipts, transaction numbers, identity confirmations, to prove you paid in order to reactivate; yet they’ve already billed you the month and should renew automatically because its a recurring membership. It’s been two years dealing with this BS.
  • Too many bots/ fake profiles. Horrible!

This app is unusable. There are so many fake profiles and bots. I report each one but NOTHING is done about it. There is someone or something creating fake profiles 4.3 miles from me. They do about 10 a day. They all are obviously fake, from the photos to the profile. Unless improvements are made pronto, I recommend avoiding this app like the plague.
  • Slow much?!

Haven’t been on in yrs. Was looking to connect with others and I downloaded the app. Stayed on it for 30 minutes waiting for the damned thing to let me reset and never did. Had to delete useless apps. I don’t have time for this nonsense. Hitting a bar instead. At least I can enjoy a drink.

Tried to post a chest picture, flagged for nudity. This is supposed to be an adult app.
  • Hypocrisy on profile pictures

Uploaded a face photo and I kept getting notified that it was against the guidelines. Meanwhile I found countless profile photos from guys that are naked which is a clear violation of the policy.
  • Very duvious

The number of scammers and catfishers is unreal. Since the app is worldwide, you get targeted by people from countries where scamming Westerners is a formal profession. You can report them, but they make a new account seconds later. There needs to be some kind of verification process. Too few locals actually use it for the app to be worthwhile.
  • Security Concern: “Save Picture” Function

    1

Dear Growlr Team, I am writing to bring to your attention a serious security issue within the app. Currently, there is an option that allows users to “save” pictures into their personal, unlocked photo collections. Unfortunately, this feature is being misused. Some individuals are saving other people’s pictures to their personal camera rolls and then using them to create fake profiles. This poses a significant risk to user privacy and safety. Allowing images to be easily saved outside the app makes it possible for malicious actors to impersonate others, exploit their likeness, and cause harm. Request: I strongly urge the development team to reconsider and eliminate the “save picture” function. Removing this option would help protect users from identity misuse and reduce the risk of fraudulent activity. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope you will prioritize user safety by addressing this flaw promptly.

I’ve used GROWLr off and on for over ten years (at least) and it’s never been as bad as it is now. Constant scammers, bots, and catfish. Whenever I message someone or get a message from someone, I now immediately have to put their profile picture through a reverse image search. Easily 70-80 percent of my messages come from fake profiles using commonly shared pictures from Instagram influencers with public accounts. I report them constantly, but nothing ever changes. Several times I’ve even talked to two different accounts using the same exact pictures. I did pay for GROWLr at one point and it wasn’t better in any noticeable way. I have met good friends over the years there, but now I hate what the app has become. And the developers are not visibly doing anything to solve the problem, so it just seems like everyone involved is taking advantage of the user base (many of whom are real people looking for a genuine connection). It’s shameful.
