  • Crashes way too much

    The app is generally pretty good, but it crashes far too much. Sometimes it crashes a couple seconds after starting a video, sometimes, minutes in, sometimes without even playing anything. I’m wondering if the developers aren’t getting reports about these crashes or just aren’t fixing them. It’s been like this for months now. In addition, downloading media is a bad experience. Resuming downloads hardly ever works which is really frustrating, especially since the app will crash when downloading. Downloading can also be absurdly slow, like hours for a single video that I could have streamed in a fraction of the time. It doesn’t make sense.

    I have enjoyed using Plex for some time now, I am a lifetime Plex Pass holder. I do not care for taking away watch together, as it is something that I use frequently with my friends who live far away. While I understand it may not be feasible at the moment, I would like it to return soon. Downloads work much better than they used to, so kudos! Lastly, I would love audiobook support, as opposed to just adding them to my music. Thanks for reading!

    I’ve been a long-time Plex user and have always accepted the occasional hiccups and minor issues. However, the iPhone app has been absolutely horrible lately. Frequent crashes make it nearly unusable, and Picture in Picture doesn’t work correctly no matter what settings I tweak. On top of that, the app is a massive battery drain! I expect better from Plex, and it’s disappointing to see the app in this state. What’s going on? Please fix these issues!

    I love this app. Not only does it have a great array of free movies and shows to watch, I’m able to load my own content and am able to access it everywhere I go. Not to mention how user friendly it is. Wish I could give it more stars.

  • Terrible IOS experience

    I’m a subscriber to the Plex pass and I’ve had nothing but issues when trying to stream to my iPhone. I currently have an iPhone 16 Pro Max. The streaming experience seems to be a little bit better when streaming to a fire stick or a Roku but streaming to the app is spotty and over the last couple of days doesn’t work at all. I constantly get errors that I don’t have enough bandwidth when my phone is reading over 500mbps. My home internet has over 40 mbps upload. The file I’m trying to stream is 75 minutes and 3.5gb. I also get errors that my server is having a hard time transcoding, it currently has an RX 560 install installed dedicated to it, for transcoding. I will be canceling my Plex pass and I will be moving over to Jellyfin. It’s unfortunate because for a service you pay for that you can get free elsewhere, you would expect to get a quality product. Unfortunately Plex is not spending their time and resources in the places that they should. The issues that I am experiencing are common and can be found across the Internet for years back. Please don’t respond to this review with have you checked the plex.tv website. I have and it’s not helpful.

    Plex regularly fails to download content from my server, shows absolutely no error messages whatsoever about downloads having failed, and only reveals it’s a broken piece of trash when I’m on the go and ready to enjoy the content I want to see. Thanks for setting such a low bar, Plex devs!
