  • Could be so much better

    Meetup fills a niche where there is not a suitable alternative, but it could be so much better. I’ve met lots of great people and attend events regularly. It has gotten pretty expensive to host a group where some of my favorite groups are disbanding. The Meetup subscription is absolutely insane! $10 a week for features that largely used to be part of the app for free. This isn’t a dating app. No one is getting on the app for a week, finding someone, and deleting it. I’ve had this app for well over a decade and I’d be happy to support its continued existence but $40 a month? So incredibly out of touch it’s actually laughable. Your data people have to be really off here for their presumed equilibrium point. Keep raising the prices and a better competitor will pick up the groups and people you’re ostracizing. So in that case, keep doing what you’re doing.

    I signed up for this app when it was much lower in price. Meetup + raised the price, auto renewed me until April, 2026 and has now removed all the privileges that I have already paid for. The “extra” information such as who is participating in a hike, the alleged “high priority “ when there Is waitlist-I don’t get any more than a regular membership. Where did my money go? Into the group treasury, I suppose. Stay away from this “enhanced” Meetup + feature.

  • Scams don’t waste your $

    I’ve had several miserable months trying to cancel and/or even use any parts of this service. The apps do not work. Do not tie into each other. It’s all a scam. I’ve cancelled through Apple several times because I signed up for Meetup and when that worked I was promoted to pay for Meetup organizer. I already paid for a year of Meetup Pro. None of it makes any sense at all. I still have the yearly Pro account until 2026, but there’s no way to use it. Just a company making money by you paying them and then offering nothing. There is no customer service or help either.

    You have to submit a whole document and get it approved before you can close your account. Also know that this is a PAID SERVICE. App sucks if you don’t pay.

  • Another mobile site wrapped in a useless app

    This doesn't need to be an app. Any "features" it offers are just functionality they've removed from the mobile site to push users over to an app that can upsell them on subscriptions and harvest their data. Make websites useable again.

  • Great app. Needs minor improvements

    Really great app. Would love to see the following improvements: I like to search for events and always want them to be in person, within 10 miles and sorted by date. I wish I could set those parameters in once and only change them if I want to. Also sometimes I search things like pickle ball and nothing comes up even though there are meetups scheduled. The app used to show meetups in chronological order which was helpful. Wonderful app. Has improved my life. So glad it exists

    I always have to file a complaint about something not working , they hardly answer back And it’s really unacceptable ! You people never announced my new group no emails or in the meet up feed!!! Poor Service , you guys really puke 🤮 Announce my group NOW Delightful Dames of South Florida!!! Today August 6, 2024 Announce it NoW

  • App used to be better

    Additional screens and clicks have made the app more cumbersome. You get asked repeatedly to upgrade. I have declined hundreds of times but it is relentless.

  • No Way to Cancel Free Trial - No Customer Service Support- Scam-Type Practices

    There is zero way to Cancel a Free Trial before the subscription starts! There is No way to contact Customer Service via email or phone or text, or Tech Support. This seems like Scam-Type business practices!
