  • Terrible App

This is hands down one of the worst streaming apps I’ve ever used. It crashes constantly, the UI feels like it was designed a decade ago, and the same ads repeat every single over like some kind of punishment. To make it worse, it runs deportation ads while clearly targeting immigrants in the US—completely tone-deaf and uncomfortable. You’re paying for frustration, not cricket. Avoid this app at all costs.

These clowns are owned by Times Group- India’s biggest news media house. They own exclusive rights to all streaming in US, thanks to bribery and quid pro quo within Indian government. Now that they know there are no checks and balances they have gone totally shameless with awful video delivery with constant buffering and glitches, made worse by misplaced ads. Filed several complaints but no change in quality. I hope karma hits everyone associated with this scam of a company hard someday.

It always takes several tries to get the app to open. It is hit and miss as to whether a match will open. Very disappointing.

Why do you hide unsubscribe button? Where is it in your app?

I hardly ever write reviews. But I needed to convey just how terrible this app is that we in America are cursed to watch due to their stranglehold on the rights of cricket in this country. Horrible quality, constantly glitching, terrible customer support. I recommend finding any way possible to avoid using this app and giving Willow your money. Any way you can. It is not worth it.
  • Case study for how monopolies destroy innovation

it weren’t for the year displayed on my phone, I’d genuinely believe we’re still living in 2003 — because that’s clearly where Willow HQ got stuck while the rest of the world moved on to high-quality streaming and modern interfaces. Meanwhile, we’re paying premium prices for potato-resolution streams, random buffering marathons, and enough latency to hear the final wicket fall from our neighbors before Willow shows us the bowler’s run-up. And the ads — oh, the ads. Nothing says “we value our customers” like being force-fed the same Valero and Toyota commercials every time I dare to blink. A 5-second break? Cool, get ready for 30 seconds of déjà-vu advertising hell. It’s like the app is punishing us for trying to enjoy cricket. The funniest (or saddest?) part: this is the official broadcaster for major cricket tournaments. The pinnacle of the sport — delivered like a college project gone wrong. ICC doesn’t care. BCCI doesn’t care. Willow certainly doesn’t care. Monopoly is a lovely business model when you’ve mastered “bare minimum,” I guess. To any Willow representative doom-scrolling through complaints: perhaps try focusing on streaming the actual match properly before dreaming up new ways to show us the same car ad for the 400th time? Anyway, keep ignoring this feedback. The world will eventually find better ways to keep up with cricket. Your monopoly won’t protect you forever. Until then, thanks for the nostalgia — I never asked to return to the early 2000s, but here we are.

Awful app with constant glitches and terrible ads that play instead of the paid for cricket. The ICC should take away Willow’s rights to the sport

Repetitive ads. Steam constantly stops. Absolutely awful experience. Avoid giving these people any money. So terrible.
  • Worst app I have ever come across

In an age where we can pretty much run our lives with apps, I'm amazed that such a low quality app could even have been released. I've tried all 4 video sources and the feed keeps stopping. But I can watch full movies on Netflix / HBO / Showtime on the same device. If this doesn't improve very soon, I'm terminating my subscription. Really poor development and execution.

There was a time when Disney were looking to acquire WillowTV for their streaming tech before eventually going in deep with BAMTech. Oh how the mighty have fallen. While it still remains the only legitimate way to watch most Cricket in the US(ESPN's diminishing interest not withstanding) their ad infusion has gotten way overboard, down to Sony Max levels in the 2010s. The sport is built for ads and yet still there is a tasteful way to approach it. All of which, they knew how to do right at an earlier time, when maybe the rights weren't as expensive, while the market wasn't that big. Now with the effective monopoly, it is full of misplaced ads from an extremely small catalog of Money Transfer and Frozen Grocery products, with the odd Fortune Teller thrown in. The good old days of Toyota ads are gone. FAST services like Viki and IQIYI have launched after Willow but have a robust offering without a buggy ad experience while Willow is subjecting their paid premium subscribers to such droll. But it is a choice they're making to ignore the regressed viewing experience for as long as they have. A choice backed by the monopoly of the viewing rights.
