  • Looks great but isn’t 100% functional

I order a DNA + Traits kit about 2 months ago. I got my results back in about 4 weeks. However, there are two different DNA icons that are exactly alike. But both are result in different results. One takes me to ordering a DNA kit and tracking. The other takes me to my results; where even further issues lies. When I push the “View All Traits” button, nothing happens. When I click a specific trait to examine it deeper, it disappears and the next one in the list pops up, and so on and so on. It’s frustrating… Outside of that though it’s a decent app for its purpose.

Ancestry is fantastic for me and my passion area. I just can not understand why other people’s input is wrong yet Ancestry accepts it. Then some records start there then disappear.

I do my research on a computer, but would like to use my phone to be able to look at all the facts tied to an ancestor and work on how to make that in to a functioning life story. However, after spending time editing how fact descriptions (or life story texts) are worded, clicking “SAVE” erases the entire thing. It’s a waste of time, and so frustrating that you need to be on a computer to bring relatives to life.
  • All relevant records are locked behind a $40.00 subscription

All the relevant records to my family are locked behind a $40.00 monthly subscription. FamilySearch allows me to see these records easily and that is why I think FamilySearch is lots better in terms of Filipino genealogy.

I’m a big fan of the app. Good UI. Leaving this review to make a suggestion. I like the widget but would like to be able to filter by events. So primarily to only see Birthdays.

I did 23&Me DNA search several years ago and was mostly satisfied until bankruptcy and privacy fears. So, I decided to try Ancestry. The results came this week and immediately I found a big mistake. Ancestry claimed with certainty that my niece, who is less than 2 months younger than me, is my sister. 23&Me never suggested that. I tried to change it to niece but the drop down gave sister as my only option. I was going to call and both complain and ask them to change it and was greeted with a recording that I would have unusually long wait times. On the positive side, Ancestry has fantastic archives of documents; a tremendous help in tracing ancestry.
