I hate video stories. I would like to turn them off.

Long time subscriber but they’ve started pushing ads on the app that won’t close. Won’t put up with that for long. This is an expensive subscription. Why am I getting popup ads? Very annoyed!
  • Invasive Ads Make It Unusable

The app has video ads, or pictures that change so rapidly that it is too distracting for me to focus on the text. Further, the app uses so much data (likely because of the ads) that I’ve had to turn its access to data off. These two issues make it nearly unusable for me—I have to read the Times on WiFi on my computer, instead. I love the Times and understand that newspapers must advertise to supplement their subscription revenue. But they could, and should, do it in a way that does not distract so much from the text. I really wish I were able to read the news in the app, but this is increasingly infeasible because of their design choices.

I had to purchase a digital subscription for researching I was doing for work. I am now convinced that the NYT is purely propoganda. No integrity, not interested in truth, full blown leftist propoganda. For some reason I thought this outfit was trustworthy. I was wrong and I want my $4 back

  • Good but backs away from criticizing Trump even when facts indicate and has ads for subscribers.

I subscribe to the NY Times but it still hesitates to report many real facts and even press videos that show some of Trump's biggest illegalities. It also shows ads for subscribers, which is ridiculous so I instead use the Brave browser to view NYTimes.com and skip the ads.

Stop with the incessant sane washing of Trump’s criminal administration. We all see what you are doing. You are the very definition of cowards.

update: removing a star cause this hasn’t been fixed, it’s getting worse. my front page is mostly gray squares, sometime clickable other times not, reboots and updates don’t help. iphone 13 ios16 (earlier review): every day on the front page as i scroll, a few articles i click into do nothing. others work fine but some are just inaccessible. great app otherwise, not great navigation design though. navigating backwards is often just silly - especially in games (top of page click, bottom of page click, top of page click, bottom, top, bottom….).

The Times seems to predetermine its info at times. Stop talking about how happy people are with their leaders gone, and note how this invasion has nothing to do with drugs and more about taking oil away from China and how it keeps oil from Cuba and weakening it so the CIA or our military can cause it to to become a capitalist country.
