  • Confusing cancellation

I tried the app, and found it a little too confusing for my tastes. when I went to cancel the subscription, I found no clear way to cancel. I could delete my account, but I wanted to make I got my refund before deleting my account. Well, i couldn’t find the support email and this I took too long and my 7 day trial period ended. And I got charged. Okay. Surely they’ll understand and refund me, since I’m just hours past the deadline. Nope. I appealed. Sorry again “Decision is final”. Too bad for me. Buyer beware.
  • Not good

I wanted to love it but it’s glitchy. Also, whoever created the app used their referral link for the rewards, which are already offered by the companies anyways! I was thinking I could stack the class pass rewards, but no! It’s one time and for new users only. When you click into it, it says that your free trial is offered by Charles. Idk who he is, but if we’re paying for this, someone shouldn’t bank free services for us signing up. Class pass already offers two free weeks anyways! Ridiculous!
  • Mom of Six doesn’t want to miss their childhood

I loved the whole you will miss 23 years of your life at the rate of phone use. It would be good to look at another angle for parents and that is how many years of your children’s childhood you will miss… I have to use my phone and social media for my business but this nips in the bud landing on my feed and doing first swipe to scroll. I couldn’t set parameters before because it would be complicated and this makes it easy. Thankyou to the developers. This is life changing and hopefully culture changing as word gets out.
  • Shame tactics

It’s somewhat effective, but it’s SO RUDE for no reason. If you like shame as a motivator, this app is for you. If you don’t like shame as a motivator, maybe find a different app because this one tries to shame you into reducing your screen time.
  • Nice features in theory

All apps were not properly blocked, some that shouldn’t have been were, and some didn’t even give me the option to block them. And trying to unblock say my notes app just for the app to freeze & do nothing was very frustrating. I chose this app because it offers notifications to track your screen time total throughout the day which was great, except those were sometimes popping up at incorrect times (saying I was at 3.5 hrs of screen time, then 5 minutes later saying I was at 4 hrs.) App does what it says it will do, but with glitches, maybe does it a little too well.
  • A great app - not for me personally

I previously gave a negative review due to lack of response after my subscription renewed with no warning. The developers have since reached out to me to make things right on that front! I will not be using the app as I need something a bit more aggressive at this current stage in my life; however, I hope to return to this app in the future once the stakes are a little lower for me. Compared to other similar apps I’ve tried, BePresent was very impressive! Definitely give it a try; just be sure to cancel before the free trial ends if you decide it’s not for you 😉
  • Tracking Doesn’t Work

Yesterday it tracked over 50 hours of screen time and I downloaded the app in the afternoon. It’s my first morning at 8:45 AM and I already have 21 hours of screen time. The only app I was running was Hulu cuz I run shows while I sleep, and the settings show the tracking should be turned off for that app. It says I was in my banking app (which is not and was not open) for 7.5 hours and that I played a game for three hours that I only played for about fifteen minutes before I fell asleep last night. I like the app but it’s kind of a lot of money for it to be this insanely inaccurate. The help article about it says it’s Apple’s fault lol. On top of this there’s no way to exclude single apps from screen time, just categories of apps. This isn’t a problem though because the tracking is so ridiculously bad that it doesn’t matter if it’s tracking the time or not. The blocking features are pretty good though and it might be worth paying for it just for that, but it’s a YEAR subscription, no way to pay monthly… right now with the tracking so bad I’m having concerns committing to a whole year…
  • Only works some of the time

This app is amazing… when it’s functioning. When it isn’t, which has been at least twice a week lately, it’s the most obnoxious app on my phone. It will massively overcount screen time (when no other devices are even in use to mess it up) and send notifications every ten minutes as it ticks up hours - “you have reached two hours” then 10min later “you are approaching three hours” 10min “you have reached three hours” 10min “you are approaching four hours” etc. Meanwhile screen time on my phone never broke two hours. This morning I woke up to 22 notifications it had sent between 1-3 in the morning, counting up screen time (an hour every 20min or so) when none of my devices were in use. It’ll say I spent two hours on Instagram when that’s literally impossible because it shows three 7min unlocks, and native screen time shows 21min. The worst part is there is ZERO customer support. The help section is just FAQs that don’t apply, and the feedback email feels like throwing complaints into a black hole - no responses and the problems don’t get fixed. I regret spending so much money on this one. I wish it worked well all the time, because it’s great when it does.
  • No new features offered than iPhone and NO SUPPORT

Doesn’t do anything different than what iOS already offers: tracks your time on apps and puts up some obstacles to you opening selected apps. It doesn’t offer you a review of your progress. I was auto-enrolled in a 1-year subscription after the free trial without the option of weekly or monthly. I quickly asked for a cancellation/refund but the cherry on top was getting a reply saying they’re very sorry but they don’t have customer service at the moment because they got so big so fast. There’s 8K reviews already. I’m sure they could hire a temp but it’s easier to pocket the money on a useless app.
  • Insensitive in-app messaging + poor CX

I’m a fan of this concept but the UX and in-app messaging copy need to be fixed. For example, if you go over your daily limit, this app sends you condescending messaging that is designed to guilt trip you. I don’t want to receive sarcastic messages that compare my current phone usage to “climbing Everest.” This threw me for a loop bc the reason I downloaded this app was to curb my phone addiction in a supportive space, so the messaging is super contradictory. Also, maybe I’m not the target audience but I am seriously thrown off by the amount of notifications I received from this app. please consider a focus group or market research to determine your core audience because I’m confused who the core demographic is.
