  • Perfect App Name for a Great Recipe App

Ya know when you read a recipe you like and you have to scroll through 10 paragraphs and 20 pictures to get to the recipe? Even when you click on “jump to the recipe“ it usually scrolls you through all the pics. Well welcome to Just the Recipe. Copy a recipe - don’t even read any of the garbage at the site - and paste it into this app and the recipe pops up. The one thing that could be improved is in the instructions of an online recipe where it mentions an amount - like “add 1/2 cup water” - that same amount transfers into the recipe instructions without adjustment. This is incorrect if you adjust the number of portions in the upgraded app.
  • Use to be good

Loved using this app to keep track of recipes but in the last month I would say more than half the recipes I’ve tried don’t register in the app.
  • Finally, a Way to Make Web Recipes Readable

I don’t even bother to try to read a web recipe anymore on its native page. The ads. The fluff. The overlays. The way they provide ingredients without the measurements until deep into the page. They’re insufferable. Instead of wading into the morass, I immediately feed the URL into Just the Recipe and it clears the clutter and provides the recipe in a clear, readable format. I can save it if it’s useful or dump it if not. It’s never once failed me. So why not 5 stars? My only complaint is the UI. Editing a recipe is clunky. Each line is in a text box with limited space. I find that a big drawback; I may want to say that it was too salty, that it needed cooking longer, that I added a good herb, or it worked well in my cast iron pan or air fryer, or similar observation. I can do all these things, but it’s a hassle. Its clunky. It is nevertheless the best Internet tool for cooking I’ve seen. No home cook who hunts the web for interesting recipes should be without it. Fix the editing feature and I’d happily give it five stars.
  • Four recipes from different websites, none of them were compatible with this app. Waste of time.

I'm not a cook by any means so I rely a lot on online recipes. This app has been amazing in helping me organize recipes, tailor shopping lists and sort by our favorites. Highly recommend!!

This is a great app to download. I find the ability to change your serving portions to increase/decrease the ingredients to be great
  • Finally…a better recipe manager

Finally...a better recipe manager Being a foodie and retired geek, I've tried every recipe manager/organizer/solution ever created (seriously), and I've never found anything better than the Paprika app, which has been my go-to since it first came out. But that just changed! Most all recipe manager apps attempt to do too many things, and they end up failing in their intended purpose of managing recipes. I've always wanted a simple, yet elegant recipe management solution with a beautiful UI and truly functional UX – and I just discovered it with this app! I don't want the unnecessary glitz of things like rating stars, etc. Every recipe I care enough about to save is obviously 5 stars. The iOS and iPadOS apps appear to be web-based apps, but in this case, that's a good thing, because the UI/UX familiarities are consistent between the apps and the website. I made a quick Safari web app of the web version, and it works flawlessly, leaving Safari free for other things. If you use Chrome, you can do the same thing. I honestly can't say enough good about this app and its future possibilities. It still needs a few features, but it has a very mature feel to it and but the developer seems very committed.

I really like this app: I’ve had it for quite a while and use it often. I plan to add the Grocery List to my plan. This app is good, reliable work.
  • All my recipes are gone

I really regret that I recommended people use this app. First, I stopped being able to enter recipes. I had carefully curated some recipes making my own specific changes and recording of them. I logged family recipes in. And now they’re all gone. I can’t access any of them. I can’t enter new recipes. I’ve contacted them multiple times, and initially received one friendly response and then have heard nothing since. UPDATE: they got back to me and now it’s working great again and I can recommend it! It is a good reminder to always keep a hard copy of important stuff, but I’m so glad I can use it again.
