Better than than other web sites that censure

It is great that Substack provides an unbiased platform for those who seek to tell the truth without getting deplatformed. But, coming to this app to find them is like pulling teeth. I installed the app specifically to view podcasts from specific people who say they have a platform here. Instead of being able to find them, first I have to choose 3 areas of interest before I could have any hope of finding who I needed to. Then I had to choose subcategories. To this point, it is ridiculous. If you want to help people find things that suit their interests, that should be a Help function, not a requirement in order to get to the people I need to see. From there, no matter what Interest heading I select, those people are not listed. I know they are there, somewhere in this abyss, but why would there be no search function? Not only is that needed in general, but that should be an option upon opening the app…choose to search, or select an interest category if simply browsing, without having to select a minimum number of them. If I can’t find the specific people I need, when I need to without playing pin the tail on the category, the app is, for me at least, non-functional.

All I wanted was to accept a gift sub from my phone. Which I apparently can't do without downloading this app. Which I then can't finish setting up without answering the interests question and then can't proceed until I subscribe to whatever assortment of recommended newsletters. Like, there is literally only one button on screen at that point. Every 5-star review is either before that design change or is from a fundamentally untrustworthy, unserious person like Substack's UX designers.

If you try want ti block any lying commie demonRATS from your feed it won’t let you but it has no problem with patriot feeds. This app is run by lunatics.

Update : it's gotten worse. The app will start playing videos with audio with no warning. Woke my wife up when I tapped on what looked like an article but was a video. Never auto play audio! Never auto play audio! Repeat after me : never auto play audio! It used to save my place if I was in the middle of an article, but now it pops me out the next time I open the app. So if you can't read an article all in one sitting, it's useless and annoying. If you read the articles in Safari you don't have that problem.

I paid for a subscription however I’m not recognized on the app although on I am listed as a paid subscriber. None of the FAQs deal specifically either this lack of access issue and I’ve spent too much time waiting for a chat bot. There are no solutions as I write this and the writer content continues and I’m falling behind. Argh!
