I love this app. I love the stats it gives! I also love that you can pick specific content warnings you want to try and stay away from and they’ll let you know if a book has those. However one thing that I think could use improvement is the various editions of books that have. Don’t get me wrong I love how they have different versions for ebooks, physical copies, and audiobooks. My specific issue is with the numerous editions of ebooks and physical books. There will be a couple copes of the same book with the same number of pages, and you won’t know which one to pick. Plus all the reviews and rating are separated. If they could make to where there are only 3 versions of the book — audio, ebook, and physical — by combining the multiple editions they have and just allowing users to put in the page count of the book themselves it would be an easier experience for us.
  • Want to love it, but…

Update: 2025/01/24 I’ve pretty much given up on this one. As much as I’d love to leave Goodreads. I could not for ten minutes of fussing add suggested titles to a “To Read”, list, despite it being the default selection in the pull down menu. Just one more issue I’ve encountered with this app. I gave up once suggested titles I was interested in disappeared from the suggestion list as it updated. My loss. At which point I even thought of simply creating a Tag and classifying them under that— a very sloppy and undesirable alternative. By that time the suggested titles were long gone. All the stats info and other aspects meant to fine tune one’s reading are all nice and useful but become meaningless once the most basic aspects of reading become second to that. To be honest, reading is a relatively self contained activity and doesn’t need to be so micromanaged in our lives in this way. Tech is nice and all, but people have done well enough for themselves actually reading rather than spend Money and time quantifying the activity to the point of technological obsessiveness. Worse when that technology gets in the way or just doesn’t work. ————————— I would love to love this app and use it to replace what once was a great app—Goodreads until Amazon bought it out. But it isn’t easy to circumnavigate on the new iPhones (actually few third party apps are any longer)… I will continue to use it and determine if it is a viable alternative because I just can’t continue supporting anything associated with Amazon or Bezos unless I have no choice. That becomes harder a harder since Amazon has gone on to own more and more companies as time goes on. Should I find that this app improves I will revisit this review. But at the moment it has listed over 400 books as having been read when they haven’t and I do not have time to play tech support and correct this. They were imported from my goodreads account as instructed. That didn’t work out too well.

I’ve used StoryGraph for a few years and it’s been a pleasure to use from the start. Throughout the years, as I’ve witnessed its growth and development, it has only improved while also remaining faithful to its earlier vision. This quality is one of the many reasons it continues to be a mainstay.
  • Doesn’t save correctly

Anytime I go to update how much I’ve read of my book it doesn’t save correctly. I like to track my progress while reading and it’s the only reason I use the app, To track how much I’ve read throughout the year and to track the progress of the book that I’m currently reading. it doesn’t save, it’ll save in the moment but when I open the app the next time it’ll revert back to the percentage it was prior to my last entry. with every update that is still a problem. I was waiting till the new year to see if in fact that would update but since it hasn’t, I’m going have to switch to another app. I didn’t wanna have to move all my books over but it’s that annoying that I’m willing to do it.
  • Good Concept, Poor Execution

I love this app and the concept it brings, but by god does it never load no matter what type of internet I’m connected to.
  • I want to like it

I really want to like this app. The fact that it is woman owned an operated and isn’t run by some billionaire on a yacht somewhere really drew me to using it last year. However, in the year that I have used it, I keep running into the same bugs and the lack of an attractive design that would not be hard to execute along with the fact that the features available before the paywall are fairly limited compared to other apps I am already frustrated with it as I’m tracking my 2026 reading. I have made the decision to double my tracking with this app and another indie startup one to see if I enjoy it over storygraph because this one is just too clunky.
  • AI ruins everything ..

I was really patient with this app and its wonky UI because I wanted to move away from goodreads for ethical reason but the use of AI is really ruining it for me and I imagine is a huge turn off to users who were looking for a more ethical hangout spot.

since migrating to this app, it has been a staple of my reading tracking for years - probably the only app that i have effusively gushed over to others, and i myself started using SG after a glowing recommendation from a friend. much praise to the simple, intuitive interface, as well as the relevant stats SG provides about reading habits. especially useful for keeping on track with annual reading goals. as great as the tracking/data aspects of SG are, i do not find their book recommendations to be particularly relevant; however, finding users with similar taste is a great way to find new reads on this app. in conclusion: I LOVE STORYGRAPH!!!
  • Great, But Not Perfect

I love the detail put into this app. This is my go-to for info on a book, like the original publishing date, page numbers, and editions. I also use Fable, which doesn’t have all of that info, but has a better UI and social media aspects. StoryGraph isn’t the most pretty app, and the layout could be better. But StoryGraph really shines with the information it provides and the detailed graphs it gives about your reading. I also love that it includes audiobooks and minutes listened, which Fable doesn’t do. I think if StoryGraph and Fable’s best features were merged together, it would be the best book app ever!
