  • Not for beginners

    When looking at their documentation, it basically states if you have no starting knowledge of the language, you won’t have the best results. I immediately felt lost. The app just throws you in. I wish I hadn’t subscribed- wasted money. It appears the money back guarantee doesn’t apply if you paid through Apple. The whole experience feels deceptive.

  • Forcing me to respond verbally

    I have tried off and on for decades to become fluent in French. JUMPSPEAK throws me into the thick of it forcing me to understand and engage verbally in simulated scenarios. It’s harder than exercises I done elsewhere but it honestly feels like I am making more tangible progress with the language.

  • Nice change, but false lessons

    The idea is cool—learn with more real conversations. It’s a little jarring at first to be practicing a pithy argument with someone but, there’s real life. However, there’s errors in the conversations. Particularly for German, it mixes the formal and informal which you don’t do. I get a feeling the conversations are AI generated and not reviewed. I don’t know if I can trust it teaching me correct grammar later when it’s new things I don’t know.

    I made the mistake of buying a subscription before testing. I get to the first Spanish speaking lesson and when I tap the micro button to talk, I get a “websocket exception error”. I can’t use any of the speech recognition functionality which is the main reason I downloaded the app. And yes, I did grant permissions to access the mic and speech recognition in my iOS settings.

  • Can’t get onto app

    I have tried to get onto app. I have tried to contact Jumpspeak- no response to my emails. My app is stuck on speech recognition and won’t let me into the app. I have even taken my phone into the Apple Store to see if they could help (spoiler alert- they cannot). Received a generic email from Jumpspeak today saying they fixed the microphone issue and to update the app (which was not my issue). This is months after I originally emailed them. I have updated the app and my issue is still not fixed. Not sure when/if I will be able to get onto this app. I have emailed Jumpspeak again.

    I ordered online, And my subscription didn’t work with the app, I tried to get a refund and no one is answering me! I don’t recommend this app to anyone. I would put no stars if they would allow me!

  • No Free Trial

    This app should offer a free trial to see what the course is even like before buying. Or possibly offering limited features. Perhaps even a demo version of the app. You don’t even have the option to purchase one month’s worth to test it out. You immediately just have to pay $50 to know what the app is like. That’s very pricey to pay with nothing to go off of. Luckily I saw this app on Tik Tok and a fan of the app sad it was very worth the price. However, if I never saw that Tik Tok , I would have never known the extent of how beneficial the app may be

    The app gives 2 answers to questions, one with punctuation, one without. Or other obvious giveaways to what the correct answer will be. Literally some of the answers are not even words. They are just similar in structure to the correct answer.
