  • Was great when it worked

    Worked great at first, but now it’s completely non-functional and keeps crashing before I can access anything I’ve uploaded to it. Whenever I open the app, I get the usual loading screen that says "getting things ready", and then it just shows a blank white screen with a loading icon for a minute or two before it crashes/closes itself without ever loading anything or showing any of the photos I've already uploaded to it. This just starts the process all over again, so no loading progress is ever made. My account shows I've only used 4% of the available storage, so the amount of files it has to load shouldn't be the issue, and I’ve already un-installed and re-installed the app, but the problem persists.

  • Useless unless you give it Full access

    I only wanted to back up one album, but it won’t let me. It insists on needing “Full Access” to the Photo Library. It also only does Backup mode for Photos. If you want to just manually upload photos, you have to upload them as “files” which are not then viewable under the photo area.

  • Buggy and lack basic features

    Comparing to Dropbox this app feels like it’s made by students during their lunch breaks. What is going on? Takes forever to upload photos (literally weeks!), app crashes every 5 minutes, search tools are extremely limited. I migrated from Dropbox due to their AI policy, but now I’m considering to switch back. ProtonDrive is barely usable as is on iOS.

  • Want to Love This App

    I want to love this app, but I’ve been trying to sync my photos (I know I have a lot…I have 3 cats, ok?) for weeks now. I use OneDrive and trying to get off of Microsoft products, but at least OneDrive makes me feel like the photos are syncing by showing which files are being worked on in that moment with a progress bar. I honestly have no idea if I’m any closer to being through the next set of photos or if it’s stuck.

    I use a mother major photo upload cloud service that is also etee. I want to only use proton drive for that but this app has a long way to go before I’m willing to do that. Missing a lot of features. If you guys ever get there I’ll have no problem canceling the other cloud services I use and only using pd. I would also definitely upgrade to more storage.

    Proton Drive is actually super super super useful, especially for backing up my photos from my phone and important files from my computer. I wish that proton Drive had a button that I could press to prioritize backing up photos over videos(or smaller files before big files) because I have many videos on my phone that are shot in 4K, and thus are a couple gigs each - I would honestly feel a lot less anxiety if I knew that all my photos were prioritized by Proton Drive because I know that my videos are, at the very least, in my iCloud.

    usually enjoy using proton products, but this is not one of those times. i should be able to add the files/photos i want, without the app requiring me to give full access. it’s extremely annoying to have every single photo in my album end up uploaded to the drive. that’s not how backups are supposed to work; i choose what i want uploaded, NOT proton.

  • Freezes my iPhone

    Love the idea of the app and the first week it worked seamlessly backing up my iPhone photos. For the past week, before and even after the most recent update, the app just freezes and crashes my phone if I open it. My phone will also get very hot and begin to drain battery. Not sure what the deal is but it is unusable right now and very frustrating.
