  • Buggy

This app is solid overall, but there are persistent issues that disrupt usability. When working in a document, switching to another app and returning (even briefly), often causes the document to become unresponsive, preventing any new typing or edits. The only workaround is closing and reopening the document, which doesn’t always resolve the issue. In some cases, the app must be restarted multiple times before editing works again. Additionally, the app frequently claims there are no photos or videos in my album folders when there clearly are. Fixing this also requires restarting the app.

Mobile app on iPhone simply does not like to work. Won’t let me start typing, randomly stops letting me type. Infuriating.

Shows duplicate folders that dont exist, takes forever to upload photos. I just uninstalled and am using safari web app instead.
  • Awful. Buggy. Laggy. Featureless.

Horrific. Barely can load files larger than 500mb, lags out and glitches viewing offline files. Zero modern file browsing abilities. Literally can not open a 1gb video file during a business meeting. App freezes when you have more than 10 files saved offline. Literally an embarrassing app for Proton to publish and charge money. Files sometimes don’t sync - i’m a 20 year software professional and could send tons of easily repeatable bugs in the app. Feels like zero testing was done before release.

Lots of room for development. Love the service in the meantime.
  • Horrible!

This app is so so SLOW. Takes FOREVER to load anything. Took me 4 days of uploading files and when done I couldn’t load anything at all. Videos: forget about ever seeing them again. Photos: maybe if you wait a few hours when you open it and it might load by supper time. Completely unusable. This is beyond painfully slow and I grew up with dial up internet so I’m use to networks being extremely slow but this is so slow if I sent a photo through the pony express across the country and back again I think the pony express would be much much quicker. Don’t even waste your time on this terrible terrible service. Proton use to be good. I use their vpn and their email service and like it but drive nope. Complete waste of time and resources.
  • Too confusing at times

I simply want my photos that are on my iPhone to be automatically transferred to my home computer where I can then put them into the corresponding folder. It would also be great if my photos would be uploaded to the cloud and into a generic folder and I can go back anytime and transfer them into the correct folders.
  • Selecting Multiple Photos on iPhone

It seems rather a banal task, but according to Proton’s own AI owlie, there is no way to select multiple or all photos at once on a phone. I had several thousand photos I needed to select to delete as I ran out of space, which meant that I had to tap several thousand times! I’d rather be tapping hamsters, lol!
  • Does not work for photo backups!!

This app does not work, do not pay for storage from Proton. While they are a great idea in theory, they cannot get photo backups to actually work in practice. The backup will take several weeks and will fail repeatedly, where you have to start over. You also cannot scroll through photos reliably and actually have them load!
  • Unreliable garbage

When I really need to access the app it just simply crashed. The update from App store shows 20 minutes to download the update. I am rolling back to use google drive or something else. Not this junk
