Can’t use with the files app if you enable faceID / pin (Cryptomator uses faceID and passwords in the files app). Tried to import files, every file failed with an error about upload size not matching final size because they were cloud files. I click my files and instead of showing me my files it just endless prompts you to enable photo backup until you switch to the files tab. Did this app just launch?

It’s missing in the iOS “share to” menu Failed to refresh access token Proton Drive needs full access to your photos
  • "Make Available Offline" is infuriating to use

I have about 100GB of documents, images, and videos stored on Proton Drive. My iPad has lots of storage, so I always use the "Make Available Offline" feature for accessing my files while on the go. Unfortunately, this feature works extremely poorly on iOS. It always starts off smoothly, but it doesn't take long before transfers hitch or restart randomly. The app becomes extremely slow and difficult to use while it's downloading something. And it needs to stay open, as it cannot download anything in the background! My iPad gets hot and the battery starts draining, just because I want to have my images and videos available offline. It's a lot of data so I don't expect it to be download instantly, but it's been over a week and it's still stuck trying to make my files available. The desktop version of Proton Drive is great, but this version has been painful to use which is a shame.

I subscribe to Proton and love their products and my ability to use them with my devices—EXCEPT on Apple. I can’t download, copy, or move anything on my iPad. What is the point of having a Proton Drive app for iOS if it doesn’t work?!

I respect the vision quite a lot BUT Webm is a bit of a headache right now and I’d love to see it get fixed in a future patch! But what I love about it NOW is the fact it’s privacy focused AND it’s easy to navigate! Keep doin’ gods work proton! Keep at it!

The windows desktop app works fine with syncing and downloading. IOS not so much. I have difficulty downloading files especially videos if the video exceeds a certain size the download will stall and an error message pops up. Repeated attempts results in the same message. Overall its an alright app that needs some more love.
  • Unable to download

Let’s get this straight. Using app, unable to download files. Use website, files download without a problem. ?? Remind me again the purpose of an app. Same as a widget? **************Developer response not wanted*******************
  • Face ID useless

Once you enable Face ID and it activates, you can’t login anymore. Uninstall is the only thing that fixes it. If you reenable Face ID again then it won’t let you past the Face ID screen. Again requiring a reinstall.
  • Complete usable, “getting things ready” never gets ready

Can’t use this service on my iPhone. Every time I open proton drive it stays frozen on the “getting things ready”. When it finally loads, there is a 5-10second lag while trying to open any folder.

I’ve been using Proton Drive on my iOS device, but unfortunately, the experience has been marred by significant performance issues. The app is slow and often struggles with synchronizing files, particularly when it comes to photo backups. The background upload feature is severely limited by iOS restrictions, leading to frustratingly slow and intermittent uploads. This means I frequently have to manually intervene just to ensure my files are backed up. Another major letdown is the lack of selective sync, which makes file management unnecessarily cumbersome. While I appreciate Proton’s commitment to privacy, it’s hard to overlook the app’s numerous operational shortcomings. If you’re looking for a cloud storage solution that prioritizes security above all else, Proton Drive might still be an option. However, if you value a smooth user experience and efficient functionality, I would strongly recommend exploring other alternatives.
