Easy to use. Allows access to your characters, books, campaigns. You can see what other players homebrew looks like. Just a great asset to any gamer.

Hasbro is a greedy as hell. The big problem i see, is that you’re either playing online completely, or you’re playing out of the books completely. There aren’t enough crossover. You should be able to buy a physical copy, and then in the back of the book is a product key for the online book. They don’t have to give it away for free either, but at a reasonable, discounted price. Like $10. Then the dm can still bookmark pages, easily read through the campaign, and the players still get the bonus of online character creation. It’s a really simple concept, but hasbro wants their money.

I got into D&D listening to podcasts in my early 30’s. I managed to get a couple of friends listening and we were all in agreement that we needed to play. We just had no idea where to start. D&D Beyond was our beginning and has fostered our group’s growth, immersion, passion and creativity. As the forever DM, I tried out the Master tier subscription. It’s now a staple in my budget.
  • Critical Failure of an app

Complete waste of money. Buying a subscription doesn't even give you access to the full Player's Handbook for making characters. If you own any D&D books and are looking for a way to track things digitally, have fun buying all your books again. The app also does a terrible job of keeping the 2014 and 2024 rules clear, particularly for spells. There are separate entries for both versions of a spell even when the only difference is a "the" in the text description that doesn't impact the spell's functionality in any way.
  • Good app

Pretty in-depth, simple to learn and easy to use. I don’t think I would buy a book on here though because you can’t flip through the pages like a physical one, it just kinda adds the new species and spells to the app so that you can use it and it applies the new rules.
  • Couldn’t live without it.

I know how to use a paper character sheet and physical dice and have all the books available to me but D&D Beyond makes everything instantly accessible. Could I live without it? Sure. But why would I want to.
