  • Subscription based use is wild

Fable is a great app. I’ve been enjoying it. But it wants you to subscribe monthly or yearly for more features. Honestly, I’d pay for the extra features if it was a one time fee. Subscriptions are getting out of hand. Especially for such a simple app.

As someone who loves Romantasy this was really hard to get through. Character building felt rushed, some scenes dragged on and the plot just wasn’t there.

Fable is amazing, you get to have book clubs, share reviews online, and connect with others online with books or tv shows. There’s a tinder basically with books, a bird to help you find a certain book, and a test you can take to find your next read. I love this app and definitely recommend it.
  • Great capabilities but needs more options!

Having been frustrated with other book-tracking apps, this one is a refreshing option and my book club is enjoying the capabilities! However there are a few things I would love: - ability to add more than one book at a time to book club’s active books - ability to modify or remove milestones - ability to edit the “lobby” chat - option to mute specific groups but not all - option to add club meetings information for those meeting IRL. Date, time, location, etc for each book.

Please find a way to connect to kindle unlimited. I prefer this app over Goodreads but I read a lot and need auto updates
  • Cancelling trial. An app without dark mode is not “modern” nor “for every reader”. $50/year too?!

My biggest complaint with Goodreads was no dark mode. I heard about Fable today and was extremely excited to hear about a “modern” replacement. Very disappointed.
  • Major Glitches

I really enjoy the app but there have been several glitches lately and no update to serve as a solution to the glitches. Some examples include my want to read list showing up 2 or 3 times when it’s supposed to show up once and the other list not showing up when I add books to it. This has happened multiple times and for multiple custom lists. The app has also gotten to where even if I have wifi connected it sometimes won’t load. It’s happened before and it gets frustrating when I’m trying to add something etc. The most recent time it happened it wouldn’t even load the authors I was typing in. Also books not counting as completely read when I have clearly put in all the pages I’ve read. For example, if I put 18/18 pages read of the book it sometimes counts however many it wants and not the entire book when I have finished it.

How the hell is this so popular? The bar must be low. Trying to add reading history and adding titles is stupid complicated. For some reason several titles imported only show my finished dates but I can’t go in and edit start dates I have to add a whole new start and finished date as a “re-read” and then delete the primary. Then you have to choose from drop down lists so if you’ve read books from years ago this is a stupid long process, just let us type it in ffs. She retroactively editing my reading streak oh my god adding books to that was also stupid complicated. This is one of a few reasons I stick to story graph for my main book app and this just for reviews. Lame. Make a mistake on inputting the pages? Need to edit? HA FAT CHANCE LOSER YOU GOTTA DELETE THE WHOLE BOOK AND RE DO THE ENTRY! Oh, and when you re do the entry it only asks when the finished date is so then you have to go through the hoops again to add the proper read date. Developers are clearly inept people.
