  • “Places” won’t download - unusable!!!

I followed the instructions and downloaded the area. A blue checkmark shows up, which I’m guessing means the download is complete. But when I look in “my places” I see nothing. Same when I look in “downloads”. I don’t see any pins at all on the map (campsites etc) when I know for a fact there are some in this area because I see them in the legacy iOverlander app. I tried deleting the download and redownloading 3 times, tried different areas, tried adding and removing filters… I spent 30 minutes trying to figure this out, and now I give up.

Tap to download places, tap to download places and tap to download places over and over again??? You have to subscribe/upgrade for this and for this and for this??? App after 15 minutes already deleted!!! Why people messing with apps like this??? Didn’t you learn anything from the Campendium desaster??? $99 for upgrading??? This app is already dead!!!
  • Unusable

There’s literally nothing on the app like no locations of showers no campgrounds no nothing. What is the point of having iOverlander 2? If there’s nothing on it and I have to still use iOverlander one.
  • Lost in the shuffle

If they start charging, I am gone. I am annoyed because I have volunteered several locations that were perfectly fine and then they erased them. They didn’t have the courtesy to send an email or to investigate. One is near my home, and perfectly safe, but yet they removed it twice. Kind of done anyway. Subscription to me means death to you.

charging $50 for an app that relies on user input? definitely an interesting choice….
  • Difficult to use!

The older app was a lot easier to use. Once I open this one appears the map in blank, I start digging in the app to see if I can search places like the older one and it doesn’t appear nothing, I also download the offline map and don’t show any places, the old one is a lot better than this one, idk why need to make a unnecessary “update” if the old app works just fine.
  • Ruined the app

I’m a ux designer and the user experience of the new app is so much worse than the old one! The navigation is not as intuitive and the important information on the screen is tiny due to room set aside for distracting ads. Super disappointing as I love the old version and use it a lot due to living nomadically. Please fix the new app!
  • Monthly Subscriptions are Cash Grabs

I've appreciated iOverlander for years and understand the costs involved in maintaining it. However, switching to a monthly subscription feels excessive for an app that was once a free resource for travelers. A one-time purchase model, like buying a game, would be far more reasonable and fair. For now, I’ll continue to use the original free app as long as it’s available. I’d hope to see an option to pay once and own it outright rather than be locked into a recurring fee. Subscriptions can feel more like a cash grab, and I hope the developers will reconsider a model that values their loyal users.
  • Worst update

So they created a second version with ads. User Experience is terrible, but you can pay for no ads which I would gladly do, if they made the app better at the same time, but instead they made it worst. The map used to be decent, but now it’s a flat map without any topo/terrain so it’s horrible to use. How in the world would you make it worst than it was and then make people pay for it?
  • Can’t see anything on the map

No points of interest or anything in my filters show anywhere on the map. It’s just a map with no markers. Seems useless. Will try it again later but stick with the original iOverlander app for now.
