  • Forces you to watch ads as soon as you open app

App used to be great before a recent update that forces you to watch an ad as soon as you open it. I purchased one of their video doorbells on Amazon for much cheaper than a similar model made by a brand you would purchase at a big box store (Ring, Arlo, Nest, Blink, etc.). I did not expect very much, but I at least expected reliable use of basic features like live view and real-time alerts through an app all entirely over the internet, at a minimum, without having to rely on a subscription based service. In other words, the app would and should simply be a secure way of connecting to a device that is already connected to the internet through my home WiFi. Since I would only use it for the live feed, two way communication, and alerts—and not intending on having any footage stored on a cloud—there is no cost to the manufacturer (please correct me if I am wrong) and should be provided for free simply for purchasing the device as it is required for its intended use. I guess I expected too much. The interface is clunky and not very intuitive; it takes several seconds to load the live view of my camera and the recent update makes that even longer by forcing you to watch an ad as soon as you open the app. Additionally, it is nearly impossible to navigate somewhere or try to do something without being bombarded by an ad to subscribe to their cloud service. As a courtesy (or to tease you), they show you a thumbnail of all the recordings you could access when you view your event history, but when you press an earlier recording to perhaps see a bigger picture of the thumbnail (not a video recording, mind you), it opens a full screen purchase page of all the different cloud subscription packages. The screenshots in the thumbnails are obviously stored on a cloud somewhere (I don’t even recall consenting to this) and I’m clearly not paying for a subscription, but I suppose they are being generous and offering them for free. I’m not and definitely was not expecting a Ring (or similar brand) camera and interface for the price I paid. I believe that it is common courtesy and good faith for any home security/monitoring brand, regardless of the price of their product, to allow users to access the app for basic use and not be forced to watch an ad regardless of their subscription status to their cloud service. It is predatory, borderline harassment, and could be the difference in an emergency in the time it takes to access live footage or speak to someone through the doorbell, which shows disregard for their customers and their well being. I was able to put up with the other issues, but once the forced ads were added it was the final straw for me. Unfortunately, since this update was made recently but more than 30 days since I purchased the device on Amazon, I am no longer able to return it. I would not rule out taking a loss and replacing it with a better known brand that provides basic functions for free.
  • I hate the app and the product

This is by far thee worst doorbell ever. The app doesn’t update to let you know the actual battery percentage. The app currently says that the battery percentage is 75% despite the fact that I put in brand new fully charged batteries a few hours ago. It constantly resets the settings and I have to just guess when the settings are randomly changed to put them back where I need them to be. There are times people have walked in front of the doorbell and I never received any notification. I have deleted and added the doorbell so many times and it doesn’t even solve the problem. It’s constantly offline so I’ve missed packages being delivered or people stopping by. There is an ad for products you cannot find anywhere on Amazon or online that constantly flashes. I need to know what products not to buy from these people so I don’t have to go thru this again.

I got two sets of cameras and entered into a subscription with Aiwit. A month later not working . Went back and forth and still is . They promised to send me new cameras but up until now I can’t receive. They respond to me when they feel like. I asked for a refund but that too I didn’t get. This is so not right. I mean monies are hard to come.by. I hope I can come back to change this review with a positive outlook.

When I first got the app, things were going well. Really good videos and not a problem until yesterday at 4 pm. Wasn’t getting videos on anything on and off yesterday. I don’t understand what’s the problem? I paid the $29.99 subscription and I should have had to do that bc I had just paid the same amount on the Seeing App that totally quit working! Ridiculous. JM

I’ve had this camera for a while now, now it refuses to even connect. I’ve tried everything and meet the requirements for the device to connect. It’s super frustrating because I initially loved this door bell camera and recommended it to several people.
