  • Has potential but no bulk import

This app is better thought through than many, but I already have ~100recipes saved in other platforms. I can export them as PDFs, but Crouton can only import 1 recipe at a time, and each one takes a minute or two to process... and you have to sit there and wait for it to finish each one. It would take many hours of tedious work to transition to it. Too bad, really. Many good ideas in the app.
  • Game Changing Recipe Manager

This app has been a game changer for our family. We struggle with keeping track with the recipes we like, knowing which ingredients to buy and update, and which nights of the week we feel motivated to actually cook. We started to default to a few basic and routine meals that meant dining out was an easy out. This app has changed the game. - We already utilized the Reminder app on iOS to share a family grocery shopping list. This continuity was great and having the ability to cross between apps is amazing. Especially when we can shop for the recipes! - the meal planner is a major upgrade from using a shared calendar event. This allows us to choose or have a random recipe chosen and then the decision is made. No more last minute “lets just go out to eat instead” because we bought the ingredients, know its a meal we chose and we love. - The AI Import for recipes is amazing. We have so many recipes typed out in the notes app, saved on instagram, in physical cook books (including my grandmothers 1950 recipes that I care so much about). We spent a day just taking pictures from books - start with the picture of the food picture if it has it, and then the AI takes wildly typed recipes and makes it a simple format to utilize. - I can probably type 4-5 more great thoughts on this app and I cant wait for the companion thermometer from Combustion Inc. to arrive. This app makes me want to cook again and not just default to eating out.

Great app, import functionality works very well. The only improvement that jumps out to me is the app state when you background it. Going back into the app frequently takes you back to the Home Screen. I wish it would land back on the recipe that was open. Otherwise, 5/5.
  • Great app with a shortcoming

For recipes that have dual measurements (1 cup / 120g flour), scaling the recipe only modifies the first measurement. Paprika scales both measurements, but I prefer using Crouton! This fix would be greatly appreciated.

Crouton is a great recipe app. The interface is easy to use and I love that it is AI supported so It intuitively imports and creates recipes from text, links or downloads. I also like the sip by step cooking process where you click and it shows you the next step. I would give it 5 stars but at time it can be buggy and sometimes the imports can get ingredient quantities wrong. You also have to check to make sure they are correct. The other thing holding me back from a 5 star rating is that there is no Android app. Hello? 72% of people have Android phone as compared to 28% Mac. Extensions for Firefox and Chrome are also needed.
  • Unable to do basic functions without paying.

I’m OCD about the presentation and formatting of my recipes and that is falling apart in Crouton as it doesn’t seem to support tiered bulleted lists, etc. so I’m having to find creative workarounds.

Should not be behind a subscription paywall. That should be the bread and butter for imports…on a recipe app….
