  • Needs work for two users; expensive

I came to Monarch from Mint and while I find it to be a useful tool the price is steep, especially when I find it difficult to use with my partner. One of the reasons I chose Monarch was because I could have both of our finances on one account but there is no way (at least I can tell) to have some of our finances separate. For instance, we have separate checking accounts and we are both small single person businesses and for me that has its own checking account. I can justify the yearly fee for two of us, and just barely myself as single account user (since I haven’t added my partner’s accounts as it would just be too messy) but can’t justify paying for two accounts for our small household.

Had to sign up before realizing there is a cost. Cannot delete my account or unsubscribe from notifications now without subscribing to the app.

After using mint and credit karma and being frustrated by constant connection breaks, weak categorization and inability to share with my wife, took the free trial to try it out. I was skeptical but it’s so order of magnitude better that I’m a total convert. They use 3 aggregators so the connections are much more robust. The categorization is 80% better…still needs work but easy to edit. I’ve added all my stuff there and now I feel like I have a command center. Exited to see what else they develop. If you’re on the fence, seriously take the trial. For 27c a day, it’s probably a 100x ROI
  • Better than Mint

I was devastated when Mint when away. Monarch has not only replaced Mint, but it has exceeded what Mint’s capabilities were when it comes to some of the little things (like budgeting by month). My only drawback on this app is that unless you are a business enterprise, there is no way for you to export your budget/actual or forecast— which would be extremely helpful in integrating it with conversations with a financial planner.

I’m not giving anybody my direct login information, not you, not plaid, not anybody. Figure out a way to get data into your software without users giving away the keys to the castle.

The best app I could find for budgeting. It tries hard. But the amount of input is great. After the initial inputs, you must continue to hold its hand and input a lot. AI will make this better. Its a near-miss.
  • Budget tracing YES Investments NO

I am looking for that tool that can do it all. This is great for budget tracking as it seems to link fine with credit card merchants and banks. However for investment tracking the links to these institutions are not consistent. Some work some don’t. This needs to be fixed with no excuses or blame placing.
  • Nightmare to Set Up

It won’t take our credit card information , you have to pay another $50 to add a second person to the account, when you get your email verification code you are not able to enter it on the screen and can’t complete login. Things feel clunky and glitchy - do I really want this app to monitor my finances ?!
  • Best personal finance app on the market

Monarch is well worth the monthly or annual cost however, you set it up. It’s a robust full working system for detailed or simple personal finance reporting. Win mint shut down. I did a bunch of research and happily started paying for this software. It has exceeded my expectations and I love all the updates that they are making on the app consistently. When you get an app that you pay for. You also get a lot of updates and development catered to you. It’s a win-win.
