  • Missing old mint

I was already grumpy to have to pay for an app when mint gave me all my information in one place for free. But I understand - times change! I so ponied up for the service and am so disappointed. First - there is WAY too much information here for me. But most of all - I loved having my bill payment calendar that I could see at a glance, and click to view more information (like total balance). After importing my information from mint directly, I am STILL struggling to get things connected. If all my data was uploaded, why do I have to reconnect accounts for both data AND bill payment? And then the bills that appear in my calendar are still incorrect! Ugh!
  • Can’t Connect to all banks and will mislead you

The app claimed it could connect to my bank. I contacted customer support multiple times to get it sorted and they claimed to be resolving the issue. Weeks passed and I checked in over and over. It’s a waste of money for a budgeting app to not be able to connect to your bank. Now they are making it difficult to get a refund. Better to use a competitor.

It keeps track of all my credit card payments so I never have to log in to check my pending credit card payments like I did before. I can see pending payments within an hour or so of making a purchase, my own as well as my spouse’s, and also automatic payments. Takes all the pain out of having to wait to check a monthly statement. The only thing I wish was that it allowed better categories for some times, ie., charitable donations are tax deductible but election campaign donations are not. Things like that would be even more helpful for keep track of tax deductions!!

If you, like me, are looking for a product to replace the Mint app, don’t be fooled by the good UI design on this app. Compare to Credit Karma (the new Mint), it’s are worse. The emails, push notifications are insanely annoying alerting you numerous times a day to typical activity. There is no graph to show net worth progress over time. For awhile one of my investment accounts was categorizing as cash. I called to cancel my account because there is no way to do it yourself, and they needed Apple to cancel my subscription on their end first. I had already turned off the auto-renewal through Apple, but we all know Apple isn’t going to answer the phone to do that. So I asked them to just turn off all communications to me in the meantime and I’ll let the year subscription run its course quietly. They said they couldn’t. Terrible app. I hope the product team at Quicken gets it together on this.
  • It’s not easy to delete

Below is what is said after I created an account and wanted to delete it. “If you would like to request the deletion of your personal information, you must first cancel your subscription by calling Quicken Customer Care at 650-250-1900.” There isn’t a way to delete through the app and need to speak to someone ugh!

Doesn’t import properly. Will not connect to my accounts… just spins around. Waste of time and money.

Here after intuit tanked their personal finance app with the transition from mint to creditkarma. Thinks look pretty good, honestly better than mint did. Would’ve made the jump earlier if there wasn’t a paywall.

Updated 3/13/24: No resolution yet, after 3 more hours on chat and 6.5 weeks. I thought we were getting somewhere this weekend when I was told that the dev team wanted to talk to me and I’d get an email about how to connect. Wednesday (today) I followed up - no, they actually need a 4th set of screenshots, and resend the first set that have now timed out in the file sharing. Original 3/4/24 review: I have been waiting for 5 weeks for resolution of a bug issue causing reoccurring transactions to mismatch with incoming transactions on a different date, different biller, different payment source, different amount, and sometimes different income vs. expense. I have been told not to clean up the problem transactions (several a week) until resolved. This makes the alerts and accounting useless. For example, I received an alert that I would run out of money, because a $125 check deposit was miscategorized as my paycheck. So I am still needing to track everything from individual account websites Every time I contact customer service, I am assured that it will be resolved soon, and that I will get updates by email (never received an email or incoming message). But they have no estimate of when it will be resolved, and I can’t be in contact with the developers. I’ve been checking weekly. Each interaction takes 30-60 minutes. While I understand bug fixes take time, and a bug claimed to be individual may be deprioritized, I am told that they have been “actively working on it” every time I ask. I asked where it was in backlog, and customer service doesn’t have that information and can’t get it. I deeply regret taking so many hours to import and classify prior transactions and set up recurring transactions. I don’t have 3 hours a month to spend with customer service without resolution.
  • Logged out multiple times a day

The app used to keep me logged in, and the past few days (maybe from an update?) I have to log in constantly. If it’s not fixed soon I plan on finding a new budgeting app because I use it throughout the day and it’s currently obnoxious. I was working with support and they seem to think that staying logged in was never an option in the iOS app, which is definitely not true because I’ve had it for months. They had me uninstall/reinstall and reboot my phone, but then I couldn’t get connected again and had to go through bot support. Again. So frustrating
