There is a serious issue with this platform. It’s gruesome. Full of aggressive and demanding clients, who demands so much and only pay you in peanuts. Upwork allows this. And I don’t know why. It’s already bad enough that you have to pay for connects to even apply for a gig. And when you finally land that gig and complete it, sometimes you get paid. And upwork takes 10 percent of that. Then you have to wait 5 security days for the money to be released. Then if you’re desperate for the money to be transferred into you bank account, they take an extra $2. It’s nasty. And they have no shame.

If you want to work you need to pay for tokens to send a proposal, so you have to pay if want even to have a chance to get the job. If the proposal is rejected you don’t get the tokens back.

I’ve had 3 possible jobs. Job 1: a link was broken & said it would be fixed in 1-3 days… it’s been 3 months. Job 2: said they would call for an interview around 3:30…. That was 3 days ago. Job 3: won’t even let me accept the interview. Don’t waste your time

I had it and enjoyed it in 2021-2022, however now after downloading it again after some years, it’s gone to garbage. I tried to submit a proposal to a job in my area and now apparently you have to get a certain number of connects or buy them to even be considered?? Even to be invited to submit one you have to have a certain amount. Immediately uninstalled.

The new version is complicated enough that I needed the help of my last hire to guide me through basic functions. I have hired six or contractors over the years. My Mac version no longer syncs with my phone. UpWork is creating a category for contractors who show you how to use their app?
