Call it incompetence but this app has deleted my notes on too many time and after using it for a yr and half it became increasingly frustrating with feature that don’t work to useless features that stiff arm you into avoiding them at all costs. Recently I stopped using it for a week or so. I tired to open it to review and the app had signed me out when i tried to sign back in it wouldn’t let me and before I deleted it allowed me to sync so i did and lo and behold it did not save and all my notes from the best year and a half that were saved are gone. genuinely handicapping

I really like using Goodnotes. There are a few quirks and a key feature needed to get to 5 stars. I need lockable layers! When I use Goodnotes for digital planning, I need to be able to set a base “locked” layer and add notes, appointments, or other elements in one or more other layers. It’s frustrating to click on an item that should be “on top,” but GN selects a different item that I’ve previously “sent to back.” It shifts, or duplicates, or does some other action to that item.

I'm a second-year PhD student and I've been using goodnotes for all my readings for almost all of grad school. I liked the ability to write directly on documents. However, last year I thought I made the full app purchase. However, to my surprise, goodnotes has yet again made my purchase basically irrelavant and is asking for more money with another stupid subscription service. I'm now in the process of moving at least 2 years worth of graduate notes off of goodnotes. I regret ever using this platform.

  • Flashcards and autocorrect are a pain

I can’t swipe sideways on the flashcards when writing them. It defaults to scrolling no matter how fast or slow, or what part of the screen I start from. I have to click on the grid and select the flashcard I’m trying to edit or press add a new one. The autofill and autocorrect often fill in too quickly and I end up with words that have duplicated chunks or extra words at the end of my sentence from autocorrect trying to fix the aforementioned errors.
