  • Amazing Content but Horrible App

I’ve been obsessed with ATK for many years, but the app, although amazing when it works, is a constant disappointment. Login errors, failure to load, delete and reinstall on the regular, not recognizing credentials, it’s a hot mess. Please please please get to the bottom of it.

I really want to use this app but anytime I open it it just sits on the loading screen and never does anything. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled it several times and it just doesn’t work.

I love the app’s easy access to the recipes but it crashes multiple times a day

The good: Credit where credit’s due: they finally brought back dates and sources for recipes. This is immensely helpful. Sometimes theres multiple similar recipes with similar names (did I make the Best ____, Easier, or the Ultimate last time?), this really helps me keep track and organized. This is great. The same: There’s still no dates on the equipment reviews. This is a big oversight, since a reader might want to take a decade old review with a grain of salt. Another issue is that the printing quality and options are still better on the website vs the app. The website lets you format your printjob. For example, you can cut out the photos and the article blurb to save ink. The app has none of these options, and defaults to a small font size that’s harder to read. Yes, it sometimes prints out a page shorter than the website, but you can usually use the percent scaling option (even on iPhone) to break even and still look better. Finally, I’m not a huge fan of having all the ingredients listed down the left hand side. It’s very annoying when the list goes on to multiple pages, and I have to keep flipping back and forth to find my ingredients. The bad: They took away the comment section for equipment reviews. Helpful comments aside, the comments were a great way to judge how old an article was, or to see if there were any updates. And sometimes, there are problems with products that escape testing. Shocking, I know.

I recently signed up for the free trial because I’ve always loved the brand and was excited by the wide variety of recipes and the promise of added perks like classes and more. However, when I tapped the little whisk icon at the bottom of the screen, I realized the classes require yet another paid “upgrade.” I have to admit, I’m disappointed — it would have been nice to experience at least one class during the trial. Given that so many people in America are struggling with food insecurity, it feels a bit disheartening. My own SNAP benefits were just reduced, and because of my employment status, I now only receive $14. It would mean so much if the platform considered offering discounts or accessible options for SNAP recipients or others facing financial hardship.

Lots of practical ideas and well tested recipes. Not every recipe book has this. Working as a chef you really don’t have time to run down the possibilities when there’s a deadline for food presentation.
  • Equipment Reviews are broken on the app as of 10/25/25

I’ve recently tried to start using this app more and it won’t load unless I delete is and re-install. After that it works for awhile then just hangs up and won’t load info.
