  • As of 2024, SEE Finance 2 is one of the BEST!

It has been years since SEE Finance 2 was first developed from the ground up and it is now a mature and elegant app. COVID came and went and since then, support for SEE Finance 2 has been as strong as ever. The Developer of SEE Finance 2 has done with this app what a whole team of Quicken developers has done with Quicken for Mac, This app is an great alternative for those who want a feature rich solution for their financial mangagement. SEE Finance 2 is far ahead of virtually every other program for Mac. I have found that support for the product is tops and that the developer is ever ready to be of help. There are no contracts and there is a trial period where the new user may contact support with any queries. SEE Finance 2 is a comprehensive and reliable solution. The interface is gorgeous... I enthusiastically recommend it...

Been using SEE Finance for probably 10 years, but I have to switch, since it's no longer being updated or supported. I do not recommend.

"Exporting not available during trial use" message when exporting. Purchased SEE Finance 2 from the App Store and have tried to contact Scimonce software support last July and again this February with no response. Beware!

I have been on a quest to find the best finances and budget manager. Key requirements include: 1) Information stored locally, not cloud based. My data remains my data. 2) Import common filetypes (QIF,QFX,CSV etc.) 3) Auto Import 4) Dual Entry Accounting 5) Ease of Exporting 6) Useful Reporting and Visualization 7) Budget, Asset and Investment Tracking. 8) Continued development and support. 9) Cross-Platform Support Some Pros: SEE Finance satisfies my #1 requirement and is why I chose to try it. It's Auto-Import / Update functionality is somewhat limited. I can register my Bank accounts (US based) and my American Express CC but other credit cards and investment accounts require manual import. The categories and auto-assigning features are useful and allow spliting of categories. The ability to add/edit transactions or correct a balance total are appreciated and was my main issue with using Quicken, somehow it was always wrong on account balances. The ease of use and intuitive UI are great selling points for SEE Finance. Now the downsides: 1) Again not all common CC or investment accounts are available for auto-sync. 2) The reporting and overview features do not include much in the way of customizability and have limited value in interpreting financial standing. 3) It is limited to MAC OS and this is my only Apple product. I much prefer Linux and Microsoft based systems, failing the cross-platform category. 4) It failed the export category. Every attempt to export data results in a pop-up declaring export is feature unavailable for the trial version. This is confusing since I paid for the software and wasn't aware of any trial version possibility. This is surely a bug but I haven't found mention of it from any other users and so far my request for support has been unanswered. It's only been a couple weeks so fingers crossed there will be some movement forthcoming. 5) Of course cloud based functionality can (usually does) reduce the privacy and security sought from my #1 requirement, but I believe it is possible for an excellent product to be secure, privacy respecting and easy to use. So while it is a tall ask, SEE Finance does not satisfy this category either. I hope this opinion will be useful to developers and customer's alike, this software may very well satisfy your requirements and the one-time purchase aspect as well as frequent sale price campaigns make this an affordable option to try. All the best.
  • Does not export ANY data. Functionlity broken. Deal killer.

The App Store bought version 2 will not export data. When you try to export, it tells you that you need to purchase the program that you already own. I tried to reach support some weeks ago, no answer received. This pretty much kills any chance of ever migrating to another program. It is a deal breaker. A other more minor problem is that some features and capabilities were lost in migrating from version 1 to version 2. Version 1 is now a dead product. In that migration, it was stated that version 2 will quickly restore those missing features. 4 years on at this time, as best as I can tell, we are still missing most of those feaures. In particular, IMHO, import was more powerful less problematic in version 1.

Can no longer export reports. Says I have a trial when I don't. No answer from multiple support emails. Otherwise still working but I rely on exporting certain transactions each month for a work report and cannot do it now. Used to work perfectly.
  • Unable to Export Reports

Purchased See Finance 2 in 2021 and suddenly I am unable to export any reports from the application. I keep receiving a message that I am using a "Trial Version" which I am not as I purchased through Apple's App Store. Support is non-existent and my emails have gone unanswered. Time to find a new tool.

I've been using SF2 for a while and very happy with it until... the company kind of disappeared; I am having an issue with my user license (duly paid) and can't get hold of support. this has been the case for the past 5 months. I think that they are out of business. the software should be removed from the store. DO NOT BUY.
  • No "Find and Replace"

I recently purchase this app, but was very disapointed to find out that you can't find and replace text like you could in Quicken. The option is grayed out. There is nothing about this in the documentation and the developer has not responed to my inquiry. Unfortunately I will not be able to use this app until this feaure is fixed.

After Banktivity (iBank) mandated expensive subscriptions I searched for an alternative and found SEE Finance. I need sync between devices and that's covered, setup was easy, customization pretty good, and I'm getting used to it. The iPad app is OK, and the iPhone app is a little rough to use but it works. I did have two questions which I sent via EMail support (2 seperate emails a couple of weeks ago) and haven't received any replies. So lose a star for not responding - if they answer I'll update the review. Notwithstanding support, SEE Finance seems a good alternative to Banktivity.
