  • Continues to get worse

    The New York Times bought something great and has been turning it into to trash ever since. Why buy something just to turn it into the New York Times sports section, they already had it.

  • Stories display oddly

    The Athletic has always had useful information. It still has well written articles and is useful for following games. A few months ago they seemed to make an algorithmic based changes to how news appears on your main page. It really seems to be based on past interests. In theory, seems great. In reality, every time I open the app I have old articles and news front and center. It’s jarring and just plain weird. Technology is just not improving anymore.

  • Podcast fees buggy

    Using the listening tab can be annoying at times. Have had to delete and reload the app multiple times this version as downloaded podcasts disappear from the download feed but still show up as data used in the top right counter. Additionally the amount of times the player loses the last place listened from is frustrating. Would also be nice to have the default be to stay on the last article read as one leaves the app and comes back. Page reloads restarting the article and/or reverting to the home page make it difficult to pickup where one left off.

    This app used to work well. But over the past few updates it constantly times out attempting to load stories. This has been an issue for quite a while now. It’s very frustrating.

    New York Times destroyed this company. Hired a bunch of hacks who do very little research anymore and just churn out trash content. Let go a majority of the legit writers it used to have

    I pay for the service but at least 10% of the time, I’m un able to access the stories. It was never an issue until, ads were foisted upon subscribers.

  • Why does it not work

    You just took $72 from my checking account, now it won’t let me read the articles. It says I must signup or start a free trial. I have logged out and re logged in, changed my password, but still won’t let me read the articles. I have had an acct for over a year, but now it won’t work. Either fix the issues, or refund my money.

    They updated the app a while back and it seems the “featured” section is gone. The section that had all the in-depth articles that are/were so awesome! I can’t even find them if I look for them! Now the app is based on a “feed” or algorithm based on your favorite teams, etc. so all you get is the same articles for like 7 days in a row!
