Description

◆ 65 MILLION USERS ◆ Yuka is a free mobile app that allows you to scan the barcodes of food and personal care products and instantly see their impact on your health. A rating and detailed information help you understand the analysis of each product. When a product has a negative impact on your health, Yuka also recommends similar but healthier alternative products. ◆ A 100% INDEPENDENT PROJECT ◆ Yuka is a 100% independent project : product reviews and recommendations of healthier alternatives are done in an objective way. No brand or manufacturer can influence them in one way or another. Furthermore, there is no in-app advertising. You can access detailed information on our business model on our website (www.yuka.io). ◆ 5 MILLION REFERENCED PRODUCTS ◆ Yuka established a database that contains 3 million food products and 2 million cosmetic products. Each food product is evaluated according to 3 objective criteria: nutritional quality, presence of additives and organic aspect of the product. The method to analyse cosmetic products is based on the analysis of all the ingredients of the product. Each ingredient is assigned a risk level according to the latest scientific data. --- Terms of use: https://yuka-app.helpdocs.io/l/en/article/2a12869y56

  • Inconsistent for fragrances

While the app is wonderful for food and most cosmetics it’s pretty unreliable for perfumes I’ve found! It’ll often have different ratings for the same product.
  • Alert for sensitivities

This is a great app and I like it a lot. However, I really wish that I could flag ingredients that I am sensitive to - whether it’s a preservative, dye, seasoning, etc - so an item scanned would give an alert. I am sensitive to stevia. It would be nice to have it warn me if my potential purchase had that ingredient

Was so excited to download. Paid the fee to use the search bar then found that many items I use are on the low end of their safety scale. I think many would stop there. Example: Built Brownie Puff bars are rated 32/100, all ingredients are given green circles to indicate safety. Then there’s a number (3) next to a yellow circle concerning its additives. If you click the circled “i” for more information, the drop down shows that, actually, of the 3 additives, 2 are safe (Green circles) and only 1 has a limited risk (yellow circle). Only a limited risk. Having the 3 next to the yellow circle was pretty misleading. With absolutely NO other information on WHY the product is bad, it’s given an orange circle with a rating of 32/100. This is a trend with many products. I’d see an extremely low rating, then check what makes it so low and there wasn’t much there. Additionally, the labeling is food is good or bad is really dangerous. Kerrigold butter is rated as extremely poor. Why? Because it’s calorically dense. Not because of any additives. Butter is just evil because of its fat content. I figured this out because i was looking for beef tallow and that was rated poorly. The recommended replacements were beef broth. Yeah Yuka, that’s definitely comparable. Calories are evil! Gross rating system. However, excellent for those with unchecked orthorexia.

An amazing app that I use constantly - I so appreciate its creation, seriously! The food industry cannot be relied upon, Sneaking things in that we shouldn’t be eating and causing a plethora of chronic illnesses. 🙏🏻thank you for making this app!

Don’t know how I lived without this app before because I honestly use it all the time. I am a better shopper now. I’m more conscious of what I buy and I’m so grateful for this app. I love how I scan an item (I pay extra for this feature, but it’s a free app to enter your items. I just like the convenience of scanning) and it indicates that it’s bad with carcinogens, etc; the app actually gives you other suggestions that have higher ratings. You can have a favorites list with the things you love & it keeps a history of the things you scan. I Absolutely love this app!
